Take the
Atlantic City Expressway into AC, turn left onto Artic Ave
"Convention Center", follow approximately 14 blocks to Virginia Avenue and
turn right, go through 2 traffic lights into main entrance for
valet or self parking.
Option 2 secret shortcut - Take
the AC Expressway into AC, get in right lane as you will exit on
the right at first exit over bridge at Exit 1, follow to
Exit E
- "Uptown" (Left Exit) and go to traffic signal, turn left onto
RTE 30 and follow signs to Taj Mahal main entrance. (This one
saves you about 15 -20 minutes during busy times.) |

Exotic.
That’s how I remember the
Trump Taj Mahal. I am in the shadow of the
roof top minarets and the upraised trunks of the many hand
carved stone elephants who seem to trumpet “good luck, good
luck” as I glide into valet. Paul who’s been here for years
rushes to open Patty’s door and gets her hand and a kiss
hello. He’s charming and Patty says he’s “handsome”…. Hmmm
No wonder he rushes to the car whenever we show up. I thought
it might be the ten spot…. Note to self. Paul sweeps us to the
front desk and if you haven’t been here you can’t fully
appreciate the exotic elegance that runs like an indulgent dream
through the Taj. Carrera marble is everywhere. Crystal
chandeliers float overhead the size of swimming pools and as
expensive as a Rolls Royce. We are checked in and then ushered
into our Lanai Suite Ocean front. I am thinking now of a scotch
and soda, a shower and how this suite reminds me of our Lanai in
our Florida villa. I am thankfully away from the office again
and somewhere in my head I have that grateful glowing buzz of
contentment I get when I am someplace special, with memories of
refreshment, elegance and attention to detail. On the way here
in the car, Patty read in City Atlantic Magazine about the Sushi
at “Dynasty” and is on the phone now making reservations to
6pm. I get to pick for tomorrow night and it’s going to be a
Porterhouse Steak at the Safari Steakhouse over some big fat red
Cab or Zin. We are seeing George Carlin tonight in Xanadu, then
to the Casbah Nightclub till the wee hours. If you’ve never
been to the Casbah you are in for a very, very pleasant
surprise. It will suffice to say that the collection at this
gathering is like desert dry kindling to stoke the post
nightclub fire in my lanai suite…. I am not sure who will have
gotten stoked more, Patty or me but at that point I don’t really
care how, who or where as long as it’s here and now if you
follow me. The Taj Mahal is a great escape. |
